The Dart map is a painting by Anna Dunscombe of the River Dart gorge between Dartmeet and Buckfast, showing its flora, fauna, people and legends
At the centre of the map is a boy sitting by the river reading a book. This is Felix Murdin, who died in 2017 aged just 20 from SUDEP – Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy.
With Anna’s kind permission Sophie Pierce, Felix’s mother, has printed the painting on prints, cards and tea towels, and all the profits go to a small charity called SUDEP Action which funds research into SUDEP and supports the bereaved.

Anna Dunscombe
Anna Dunscombe is an amateur artist whose watercolours are inspired by the Dart and other rivers of the UK. She lives close to the Dart on the edge of Dartmoor and cares passionately about the health of the river and its inhabitants: the mammals, fish, invertebrates and birds who depend on it for their very existence. She volunteers for the West Country Rivers Trust monitoring the water quality of the Dart and its tributaries, and is also part of the Riverfly Monitoring Initiative, checking Riverfly larvae numbers on the Walla Brook, a tributary of the Dart. The organisation is trying to actively conserve riverfly habitats.
